Top Row of Braces in Combo with Herbst Appliance...Damon
Hey just found out last week that I will be getting braces, just the top row on with my herbst appliance. I am not sure whether I am getting that put on the 8th or the 22nd of September. It's safe to say I just assume all of it by the 22nd; the herbst appliance and the top row of braces. I also found out I will be getting the Damon Braces. These are self ligtating braces. I live quite a ways from my orthodontist's office so to make it convenient for me, I go every 8 weeks. There are no colored ligature ties on my braces, for greater comfort and faster results. Normally my case would include 3 years my actually treatment time will be 30 months or 2.5 years. I am really excited it is not coming fast enough.

Glad to hear that you are getting Damon style braces. I've seen vids on them and they sound a lot more comfortable than the old fashioned color ones. Also, I just wanted to mention, that if you have having TMJ pain, like right in front of your ear, I would postpone getting braces and see a TMJ specialist immediately, a doctor with both DMD and MD degrees. A lot of times braces can actually cause TMJ pain and TMJ problems later in life. Also, don't let them extract any of your teeth...unless they are wisdom teeth. Sorry for the random comments but I have seen what extracting teeth can do. I think there is a video in my favorite vids on my youtube channel about it.
ReplyDeleteHey I agree with you 100% about the extracting teeth thing, my ortho doesn't extract teeth anymore. You can get colours on the Damon braces the colours go on under the wire. My TMJ NEVER acts up it had only acted up 3 or 4 times in my entire lifetime but I will most definatly keep that in mind :)
